Orlistat is used to treat obesity and help in weight loss. Orlistat is to be used along with a low-calorie diet and regular physical exercise. Orlistat contains Orlistat, which works in the small intestine and stomach and prevents the action of enzymes that break down fat, which is absorbed by the body. Orlistat decreases the absorption of fat from the food you eat. Thus, fat passes through the gut and is excreted in the faeces, which makes the body unable to use fat as a source of energy or convert it into fat tissue. Thereby, Orlistat helps in weight loss.

Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, please tell the doctor if you are taking any other drugs as they may affect the way Orlistat works. Tell your doctor about the medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, and other drugs you use, especially those used for children. Also, any herbal medicines, like ginseng and itraconazole, and prescription medicines, like rifabutin, may affect the way Orlistat works. Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications: riociguat, a drug used to treat obesity, lisurin, a medication to treat cancer, ritonavir for HIV, phenelzine for ranolazine, amphetamine, barbiturates, phenothiazine, phenobarbital, or tricyclic antidepressants or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNORI) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI) reuptake inhibitors, venlafaxine, or diazepam.
Orlistat may affect the way Orlistat works. Orlistat is a lipase inhibitor. It reduces your absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as their concentrations. Therefore, there may be a risk of decreased effectiveness of Orlistat. Your doctor will prescribe a multivitamin containing fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K while using Orlistat. Also, furosemide is a medication used to treat muscle pain, fever, and infections, and is taken on an empty stomach at bedtime.
